Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti could MISS Champions League trip to Chelsea after positive Covid test just SIX DAYS ago

April 5, 2022

REAL MADRID could be without boss Carlo Ancelotti for their Champions League quarter-final tie against Chelsea.

Former Chelsea boss Ancelotti, 62, has been missing from the Los Blancos' dugout since testing for positive for Covid six days ago.

The positive test meant Real had to take on Celta Vigo in Ancelotti's absence on Saturday.

It was business as usual for the Spanish titans who cruised to a 2-1 victory against their opponents with Ancelotti's son Davide in charge for the game, although he couldn't dish out orders due to not having the required licence.

And he was required to remain seated on the bench throughout the game.

But Davide found a way to make things work, as he was spotted communicating with dad Ancelotti using a headset.

It was Real’s goalkeeper coach Luis Llopis who then barked the instructions from the technical area.

But Ancelotti's yet to return to his duties since then and has missed the last FOUR of Real's training sessions as he hasn't recovered from the illness, according to AS.

And on the eve of Real's first-leg tie against Chelsea on Wednesday, it still isn't clear if Ancelotti will be making the trip to London following his positive test on Sunday.

The report states that although he feels fine, Ancelotti's still waiting on the results of a negative test before he can travel with his squad.

If Ancelotti doesn't recover in time, it will be upto son Davide and goalkeeping coach Luis Llopis, along with club coach Abian Perdomo, to guide Real's vast array of stars.

But it remains to be seen if the trio have the tactical nous to overcome the might of the Blues and boss Thomas Tuchel.

Especially as Real have failed to win any competitive matches against Chelsea.

However, the Spanish titans will have received a major boost going into the game after witnessing the Blues crumble against Brentford on Saturday.

The Blues' stars were a no-show as the Bees romped to a 4-1 victory in a game that saw Christian Eriksen score his first goal for the club since joining them in January following his heart scare last year.
