Premier League clubs snubbed chance to sign Bayern Munich ace Alphonso Davies for just £2MILLION due to 'MLS ignorance' | The Sun

TOP Premier League clubs ignored advice to sign Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies for just £2million due to their MLS ignorance.

Former Everton forward Adrian Heath, a coach in MLS for 13 years, tipped off a number of coaches and club bigwigs back home about Davies, but was ignored – leaving the door open for Bayern.

The Canada international, 21, started his career in MLS with Vancouver Whitecaps before joining the German giants in 2018.

Davies has won four German Bundesliga titles and a Champions League with Bayern.

Heath, 61, thinks the perception is changing as standards in MLS rocket up but says there are plenty of other players Prem clubs should be looking at.

Heath, manager of MLS side Minnesota United, said: “I remember asking four or five clubs in England to take a look at Alphonso Davies.

“The response I got was ‘I’m not so sure, he plays in the MLS’.

"They could have got him for £2million but they wouldn't buy him now for £100million.

“I think the perception is changing, but it’s changing slowly. There is still a lot of talent in the States that is flying under the radar of clubs in Europe."

Who else should clubs be taking a punt on, then?

Heath – who coached the MLS All Star side in their victory over the top talent from Mexico's Liga MX – coaches one of them.
