‘Show some f***ing respect’: Phil Neville bites back at a reporter for interrupting him in a heated press conference after David Beckham’s struggling Inter Miami team lost again
- Neville was angry at a reporter talking over him following 3-1 loss to Orlando
- He gave the journalist a sweary dressing down before forgetting the question
- Inter Miami have lost eight of their 13 MLS matches so far this season
Phil Neville told a reporter to ‘show some f***ing respect’ as frustrations boiled over following Inter Miami’s latest defeat.
The Florida club, co-owned by David Beckham, slumped to an eighth defeat in their opening 13 MLS games when they went down 3-1 at home to rivals Orlando City on Sunday.
Former England and Manchester United midfielder Neville was giving his press conference afterwards when a journalist continued to speak over his answer.
Neville told the reporter he ‘always looks for things to be negative about’ and was continuing his response when he was interrupted.
‘Can I finish speaking? Or are you going to interrupt?’ Neville asked his inquisitor.

‘Can I finish speaking? Because I don’t interrupt your question, so don’t interrupt mine, show some f***ing respect.’
Neville then apologised for his sweary language before having to admit he’d forgotten the question originally asked. The Inter Miami coach then gave a detailed breakdown of his thinking over a substitution.
Miami sit 12th out of 15 clubs in the MLS Eastern Conference following their latest setback, having won just five of their 13 league games so far this season.
Neville, 46, had appeared to have kick-started their season with five straight wins in the MLS and the US Open Cup, but back-to-back losses to Nashville and Orlando have ruined the mood.
In the all-Florida affair with Orlando, they trailed to Ercan Kara’s 19th-minute goal, only to level through Leonardo Campana 12 minutes after the break.
Miami were unable to kick on, however, and strikes by Martin Ojeda and Rafael Santos consigned them to a defeat that clearly riled 46-year-old Neville.
They have been linked with a sensational swoop for Lionel Messi when he departs Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia appears to be the more likely destination for the Argentine World Cup winner.
They return to action against Nashville in the next round of the cup on Wednesday.
