NFL week 9 tips, predictions, free bets and sign up offers: Five bets to look out for this weekNovember 3, 2021
With many teams now on or coming off a bye, it’s time to take stock half way through the NFL season.
No team is unbeaten and over half a dozen teams have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations. Time to delve into another five picks…
(2021 Predictions W-L-D: 20-19-1 50%)
Falcons @ Saints (-6) – 18:00
Despite coming up short against Carolina, I’m sticking with the Falcons to cover in another NFC South match up.
New Orelans will be on a major high after beating Tampa Bay but the cold light of day sees them without their starting QB Jameis Winston, after he was ruled out for the season.
Expect Trevor Siemian to make his first start since 2019, or Taysom Hill to return after being in concussion protocol for three weeks.
Either way, you’d think that the Saints will rely on their run game more: but that’s something that may not bother Atlanta.
They've allowed six rushing touchdowns this season and a longest run of 23 yards; second best in the league.
If they can keep the Saints compact and get Kyle Pitts firing again, they can keep this more than close. I can’t quite go for the upset but it’ll go down to the last knockings.
Prediction: Falcons 24 Saints 27 (Falcons +6)
Broncos @ Cowboys (-10) – 17:00
The Cowboys might be a legit contender and there’s plenty of scope for their huge spread (second biggest of the week), but don’t overlook the Broncos.
They’ve got a top 10 defense, haven’t lost by more than 10 points all season and have allowed the second fewest total first downs, of all teams that have played eight games.
Dak Prescott should return for this one but there are whispers that Dallas may sit him out for one week further, and ride again with Cooper Rush.
If they do, the line may drop a few points; I wouldn’t back any lower than this but Denver can keep this within a score, even if a win is unlikely.
Prediction: Broncos 20 Cowboys 27 (Broncos +10)
Chargers (-2) @ Eagles – 21:05
Another surprise result on Sunday saw Justin Herbert get ‘Belichick’d’, but with all respect to first time Head Coach Nick Sirianni, he is no Bill Belichick.
The Chargers will be smarting after their defeat and are primed to take revenge on a Philly team that beat up on the hapless Lions, which may have sweetened this line somewhat.
Even accounting for that walkover, Philly have allowed an average of 23 points per game.
The aforementioned Herbert had one of the worst games of his career on Sunday but still holds a 104.7 passer rating for the season.
The Eagles have to put a win streak together to even try to claw back Dallas in the NFC East, but it won’t start here.
Prediction: Chargers 30 Eagles 24 (Chargers -2)
Cardinals (-2.5) @ 49ers– 21:05
The Niners had a much needed win against the Bears but they are dreadful at home; they’re 0-3 at Levis Stadium this season and have lost seven of their last eight in front of their own fans.
Arizona meanwhile didn’t lose much face in defeat to the Packers. They went toe to toe with them and pushed them all the way; they also have ten days between games which is essentially a mini bye.
San Fran will have had to go coast (ish) to coast. Arizona get the win comfortably.
Prediction: Cardinals 31 49ers 17 (Cardinals -2.5)
Packers @ Chiefs (-1) – 21:25
Yes they beat New York on Monday Night Football, but can you trust the Chiefs in this game?
Their defense is still leaking like a sieve and Patrick Mahomes is still creating wild turnovers.
It’s a short week for KC and a long ten days of rest for Green Bay, who ended Arizona’s unbeaten season.
Aaron Rodgers is sitting at a 108.2 passer rating (best in the league) and would surely be in the mix for MVP if he hadn’t won it last year.
It’s a sad indictment that the Chiefs should be hanging onto their division crown by a thread but if more losses follow, someone else will surely step up to knock them off their perch, whether it be the Raiders or the Chargers.
Arrowhead will be loud as usual, but look for Green Bay to silence the Tomahawk chops come the end of the fourth quarter.
Prediction: Packers 35 Chiefs 33 (Packers +1)
