MAURICIO POCHETTINO has been snubbed for the Ligue 1 manager of the year award – despite leading Paris Saint-Germain to the title.

The former Tottenham boss did not even earn a nomination for the gong.

Christophe Galtier (Nice), Jorge Sampaoli (Marseille), Bruno Genesio (Stade Rennais), Julien Stephan (RC Strasbourg Alsace) and Antoine Kombouare (Nantes) have all been nominated for the award.

And there appeared to be some confusion among fans as to why Pochettino missed out.

One person took to Twitter to say: "Please someone explain to me how does winning a league title still make you not good enough for a MOTY?"

Another added: "Lack of respect for him is baffling."

Another person said: "How is Poch not nominated? He literally won the league."

However, others agreed with Pochettino's absence from the list.

One Twitter user said: "Best coaches get nominated for award, no surprises here."

Another responded with: "Will those nominated not win with the kind of team Poch has at his disposal? What exactly makes him worthy of being nominated for best coach? He should have shown his abilities in Europe."
