Manchester United star Antonio Valencia wanted by West Ham on free transfer next summer
December 6, 2018The 33-year-old is out-of-contract at the end of the season, and has struggled to meet Jose Mourinho’s expectations this campaign.
He is free to talk to clubs around Europe in January, with sides in Italy and Spain showing interest.
But the Hammers are looking to take the Ecuadorean ace in their search for a new right-back.
Pablo Zabaleta is considering his future, and could retire despite plans he could be offered a new contract.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is a huge fan of Valencia, who has played in England for the past 12 years.
An Old Trafford source said: “The club are still deciding what to do with Antonio and his future.
“He has played a few times this season, but has struggled with injuries and his form hasn’t been great.
“Him and Jose haven’t seen eye-to-eye at times this season and it might be the end for him here, but we will see.”
Valencia has made nearly 250 Premier League appearances for United, and scored 17 goals over a nine year period.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils are keeping tabs on Galatasaray starlet Ozan Kabak – with Mourinho keen to bolster his defensive options.
The 18-year-old – rated at around £20m – has impressed scouts with his commanding performances this season.
