Man Utd need 'fresh ideas and injection of positivity' after Jose Mourinho sacking, says Rio FerdinandDecember 19, 2018
The Portuguese was given his marching orders by Ed Woodward after guiding his side to their worst league start in 28 years.
And former United centre-back Ferdinand believes Old Trafford chiefs have made the right decision in sacking their boss.
Writing on his Instagram, the 40-year-old said: "Jose Mourinho Leaves Manchester United. Right now is the right time.
"Things aren’t improving & he has taken it as far as he can.
Ferdinand became a Man Utd legend during his 12 year spell with the Red Devils.
The former centre-back became hugely decorated under the club's greatest manager ever Sir Alex Ferguson.
And he clearly feels now is the right time for change.
Michael Carrick will now take the reigns at Manchester United.
But it won't be in the long run as the club are set to look externally for a caretaker manager in the wake of Mourinho's departure.
SunSport have reported that the club's top brass are willing to go all out for Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Ed Woodward and Co are reportedly willing to pay £40m for the Argentine tactician.
