Man Utd line-up and team news: Herrera makes return after mystery injury but will Solskjaer drop under-performing Pogba for him against Chelsea?April 26, 2019
PAUL POGBA may be in the PFA Team of the Year but he could find himself out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans for Sunday.
Hosting Chelsea at Old Trafford, Manchester United simply must get a result to keep their top-four hopes alive.
A selection dilemma has unfolded for Solskjaer, with it likely he will swap back to his preferred 4-3-3 formation having bulked out his defence for the loss to Manchester City.
The boss had questioned exactly how Ander Herrera had become unavailable a few weeks ago, pondering if a hamstring injury was related to speculation of a move to PSG.
But the Spaniard is now back in contention and, as a favourite of Solskjaer before his injury, should slot back into the team.
Whether that means Pogba is the man dropped remains to be seen, given Nemanja Matic's poor form and Scott McTominay requiring a late fitness check.
FEW DESERVING FACES
It seems as though no one is particularly guaranteed a start for this game.
Marcus Rashford is goalless in five matches, Jesse Lingard missed a great chance to level the score in midweek, and Fred lost his midfield battle with David Silva.
In addition, neither Andreas Pereira nor Anthony Martial have done enough to demand a spot in the team.
Therefore there could be a starting berth for Romelu Lukaku or even Alexis Sanchez, whose poor showings off the bench against City appear less bad when compared to their colleagues' efforts.
Whoever plays will know Chelsea have endured some nightmare away days under Maurizio Sarri and all may be forgotten with a win, especially ahead of season closers versus Huddersfield and Cardiff.
One man unlikely to feature is Phil Jones, the centre-back carrying a knock after being taken off in the disastrous defeat to Everton.
His absence will mean Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof keeping their spots in defence, flanked by Luke Shaw and Ashley Young with Matteo Darmian most likely to be dropped after an average return to the side against City.
Eric Bailly and Antonio Valencia remain unavailable.
