Man Utd in talks with Juan Mata and Ashley Young over contract extensionsJanuary 10, 2019
ESPN FC understand that despite the players entering the final six months of their respective Old Trafford tenures talks are ongoing.
Mata, Young and Herrera are all free to speak with rival overseas clubs but none of them want to leave.
Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw have signed new contracts this season with the deals of another nine players due to expire in the summer.
Arsenal have been linked with a shock move for 30-year-old Mata, who has publicly confirmed his interest in remaining at the club he joined from Chelsea in 2014.
The ex-Valencia playmaker has made 21 outings this season, scoring five goals including the opener in the FA Cup third round win over Reading on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao are keen on bringing Herrera back to the club four-and-a-half years after he joined United.
But the 29-year-old has no plans to return to Spain, a feeling that has been reinforced by interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer starting him in three of his five games in charge.
Young has also become a regular under Solskjaer having made the right-back position his own, however he wants guarantees over his future opportunities.
Clubs from China, Italy, Spain and the United States are monitoring the 33-year-old's situation as he seeks a deal to extend his eight-year association with the club.
