Man Utd hold transfer talks with Monaco wonderkid Hannibal Mejbri whose family hope to annul deal with French sideMay 17, 2019
MANCHESTER UNITED have held talks with Monaco wonderkid Hannibal Mejbri – with the youngster's family hoping to annul his contract with the French side.
The 16-year-old midfield sensation is desperate to leave the Ligue 1 outfit but his current deal runs until the summer of 2021.
Mejbri's family want to have his current deal scrapped to allow him to force a move, but Monaco will demand compensation.
The young star's dad – former Tunisia international, Lofti – has cited an "issue of trust" as the reason for wanting to get his son out of Monaco.
Reports claim the family of the eight-cap Under-16s international believe the five-year contract had not been "ratified properly".
Now United are said to have made a "big offer" for Mejbri, according to French outlet RMC.
However, Man Utd are not the only team in the mix for Mejbri – with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich also on the prowl.
United had hoped to land the midfielder in January but fell short in their approach.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool are believed to have missed out on the midfielder's signature in 2017, aged just 14, before he was snapped up by the Ligue 1 club.
Meanwhile, both United and the Gunners have been put on red alert after Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars confirmed Hakim Ziyech will leave in the summer.
The Moroccan international won the club's Player of the Year award for the second season running and is a target for a host of European giants.
Ziyech, 26, chipped in with 21 goals and 24 assists in 49 games in a stunning campaign.
