Liverpool’s Andy Robertson undergoes hand surgery after picking up infection – The SunJuly 13, 2019
ANDY ROBERTSON has been dealt a pre-season setback having undergone surgery on his hand.
The left-back picked up an infection and will be forced to miss out on training over the next few days.
Liverpool confirmed that the 25-year-old will be part of the squad that jets out on their pre-season tour of the United States next week.
He reported back to training on Saturday morning but was sporting a bandage on his right hand.
The club confirmed that he "will be temporarily delayed in participating in the usual tests and drills."
That will include missing their second pre-season friendly against Bradford on Sunday afternoon.
His team-mates Virgil van Dijk, Gini Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold all returned to pre-season on Saturday.
They were given an extra week off following their summer exploits on international duty.
Jurgen Klopp's side were utterly dominant in their opening clash against Tranmere after emerging 6-0 winners.
The German manager rotated both Adam Lewis and Yasser Larouci in the left-back position in Robertson's absence.
Meanwhile Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita are unlikely to feature for a while as they continue their recoveries from injury.
