Klopp warns struggling Liverpool star Salah he must learn from red-hot Mane if he wants to get back among goalsMarch 20, 2019
MOHAMED SALAH should take a leaf out of Sadio Mane’s book if he is to get back among the goals for Liverpool.
That is the message of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who thinks Mane can act as an inspiration for Salah.
Although Salah has 20 goals to his name in all competitions this term, he has gone seven matches without finding the back of the net.
It is his longest barren run in front of goal since a 10-game streak for Roma in the 2015/16 campaign.
Meanwhile, Mane has been prolific, scoring 11 times in as many games.
While Mane has been an unsung hero of the Reds’ fearsome attacking trident, Salah has been more subdued of late.
Klopp reckons Salah’s luck is bound to change soon, but insists the Egyptian hitman need only look to see what Mane has been doing to reap the rewards.
He told Liverpool’s official website: “Sadio played pretty much always like this but now he is always in the right spot in the right moment. In football it's sometimes like this.
"He is in a really good moment, of course.
“The only thing he did when he was not always in the right spot was work and work and work.
"That's exactly what Mo has to do, exactly the same: just work, do the right things and it will come again.
"He's just rather unlucky, where Sadio is lucky in the moment – he is in brilliant shape, that's true.
"But then, he is in the right shape and maybe a yard away from him is Mo, but somebody else scored. That's how it is, all good."
Salah will be hoping to end his goalscoring drought when Liverpool host Tottenham on March 31.
The Reds are currently two points clear at the top of the Premier League table having played a game more.
