Hollywood star Keanu Reeves has revealed that he is currently working on a documentary that will chronicle Brawn GP’s unlikely triumph in the 2009 Formula One World Championship.

The John Wick star has long been a fan of the sport, and was spotted attending the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in July.

Keanu Reeves will host a documentary series chronicling Brawn GP’s unlikely 2009 F1 world title win

Speaking to The Sun, Reeves explained that the series will provide an in-depth look at the circumstances that led to Ross Brawn’s hastily-arranged team winning the title in its only year of competition.

‘You’ll know the circumstances that went into that season. The financial crisis. Our story is about Honda withdrawing from F1 and Ross Brawn who had joined Honda a year and a half earlier.

‘There were redundancies. They didn’t have a lot of finances. They became an independent team. How did they race a world championship? It’s certainly a people story. It’s about passion.

Button clinched the Drivers Championship in the penultimate race of the season

‘I think some of themes and windows that we’re taking people into with this story, whether you’re a race fan or if you just like watching a human story and the struggle to overcome, hopefully it’ll serve that up.’

As part of the filming of the series, Button donned the Brawn GP race suit that he had made history in 13 years ago.

‘It still fit. Jenson was very generous with his time and with his thoughts.

‘He shared a story with us and the impact that had on him. How it drove him.’ Reeves added.

The 42-year-old professed that he continues to reminisce about his unlikely success to this day

By beating Sebastian Vettel to the title in 2009, Button became the tenth Brit to win the championship, and explained that the memories of his victory of his victory still live with him to this day.

‘What I love about this is how in-depth these guys have gone and how much they know about the project and that exciting year.

‘It’s 13 years ago. I think about winning the world championship quite often.’
