Jose Mourinho sacked: How long did the ex-Chelsea boss last at Man United, what was his record, and did he win any trophies?November 22, 2019
JOSE MOURINHO is back in the Premier League!
The Portuguese boss has joined Tottenham, just 11 months after he was sacked by Manchester United.
His appointment comes less than 12 hours after Spurs axed Mauricio Pochettino following the Argentine's five-year stint in North London.
How long did the ex-Chelsea boss last at Man United?
MOURINHO was appointed Manchester United boss on May 27, 2016.
He took over from Louis van Gaal, despite the Dutchman leading his side to the FA Cup that year.
The Special One has lasted just over two years at the Theatre of Dreams, given his marching orders on December 18, 2018 after a torrid domestic campaign.
As such, he was in the job for 936 days, with Michael Carrick set to take training ahead of the festive period.
What was his record?
IN total, Mourinho was in charge at Old Trafford for 144 games.
He won 84 of those matches, drew 32 and lost 28 – overall that gives him a relatively healthy win percentage of 58.3 percent.
That might be slightly better than David Moyes and van Gaal, but doesn't top Sir Alex Ferguson's 59.67 percent over his 17-year reign.
Did he win any trophies?
MOURINHO has always had an instant impact at every club he's ever managed.
And it was no exception at Old Trafford, where he led the Red Devils to the Community Shield, EFL Cup and the Europa League in the 2016/17 season.
But since that Europa triumph, the trophy cabinet has remained bare at a club which demands success.
And Mourinho paid for that with his job, dismissed from his position following the embarrassing 3-1 defeat by league leaders Liverpool on December 16.
