Ex-Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery joins Serie A minnows Salernitana on free transfer after leaving FiorentinaSeptember 7, 2021
FRANCK RIBERY has completed his switch to newly-promoted Serie A side Salernitana.
Following his exit from Fiorentina this summer, the 38-year-old has joined the Italian minnows on a free transfer.
It's been reported that the ex-Bayern Munich winger has signed a one-year deal worth £1.2million, plus bonuses.
The former French international could've also ended up playing for Salernitana's Serie A rivals Hellas Verona this season.
Ribery, who won nine Bundesliga titles during a 12-year spell at Bayern Munich, was reportedly keen on a switch to Verona before Salernitana swooped.
And earlier this season, it was claimed that Ribery was eyeing a sensational return to the Allianz Arena.
But the Bundesliga champions were only willing to offer him a short-term deal, Ribery revealed.
He said: "I heard about that, yes. But I think they only wanted to give me a one-year contract."

And now he's at Salernitana, Ribery could soon be joined by ex-Arsenal defender David Luiz at the club.
The Serie A new boys are expected to negotiate the deal with the player's representatives this week, according to Italian journalist Rudi Galetti.
But they could face an uphill battle to convince the Brazilian to join them, as he still wants to challenge for titles.
Luiz told the Mail last month: "My idea is to win, win, win as soon as possible.
"The offers so far, they did not touch my heart. I want to stay at a high level. Maybe that will be in the Premier League.
"I am working every single day. I want pressure, to be fighting for titles."
