MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to send out an SOS to Anthony Martial – with the striker set to be fit to face Liverpool.

The French forward has missed the disastrous first two Premier League games this season with a hamstring injury.

He has been back on light training since the weekend, watching on as his United team-mates were smashed 4-0 at Brentford.

That came just days after an opening weekend loss at home to Brighton, already putting Erik ten Hag under huge pressure.

But the Red Devils boss has had some rare good news, with Martial looking ready to be able to face their bitter rivals.

They take on the Reds – who have drawn their first two league games – at Old Trafford next Monday night.

Martial has already been doing ball work with the team, but is expected to resume full training on Wednesday.

That includes contact drills with the rest of the squad, putting him well in contention for next Monday.

United will have their final session on Sunday morning, where a decision could be made on whether he is ready or not.

He wants to bring in another striker this transfer window, if the right man can be found on his lacklustre budget.
