ERIK TEN HAG has already got Manchester United players worried – before he even officially takes charge at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman has said his goodbyes at Ajax and is expected to arrive in the North West in the coming days.

Yet the Manchester United squad he will inherit say the prospect of working under a new boss will be on their minds all summer.

Scotland international midfielder Scott McTominay says he will make sure he keeps himself in shape during the summer break to make sure he impresses the new gaffer.

And he believes the other players at Carrington will feel the same as they prepare for a new era at the club.

McTominay said: "Your time to switch off is your holidays with your families.

"But even then I’m thinking ‘I need to train and do something to make sure I’m in peak condition for the new coach’.

"You never switch off, not even when you’re on holiday. It’s not just a case of going wherever with your family.

"You are still thinking of coming back and having the best possible impact on the new coach. The other players will be the same, football is your life and when it’s not going so well, it’s tough."

Swedish winger Anthony Elanga says he is excited at the prospect of playing under Ten Hag next season.

Elanga added: "Not only this season but in seasons prior to this, winning the leagues and his fantastic record in Europe.
