England's clash with Spain goes ahead despite torrential rain battering Seville on Monday

January 31, 2022

ENGLAND'S Uefa Nations League clash against Spain went ahead despite a torrential downpour in Seville.

A deluge of rain lashed much of southern Spain for a few hours in the lead up to the game.

But thankfully the weather eased off and the game kicked off as planned at 8.45pm local time.

Huge puddles surrounded the playing surface earlier in the day.

Safety of spectators could have been an issue inside the stadium and out.

It comes after British police pleaded with travelling fans to avoid a repeat of the last time England fans caused trouble in Spain.

One hooligan was filmed throwing a glass at a passing car in the centre of the Spanish city.

Riot police fired warning shots in the air as the situation threatened to spiral out of control, provoking a mini-stampede among some of the England supporters out in force last night ahead of today’s Nations League match.

There were no immediate reports of any arrests or serious injuries.

Around 3,000 fans have travelled to the southern Spanish city.
