The striker has missed three games and Manchester City have been without the Belgian since November 1.

City are heading into the festive fixtures with a injury-struck side, but the boss has revealed he will not sign anyone new in January.

Aguero has been stuck on the sidelines since the 2-2 Champions League draw with Lyon after he suffered a muscle injury.

But Guardiola confirmed in a pre-match press conference: "He did did the last two training sessions. On Thursday he trained with the team.

"He has no pain and we will decide."

And the 47-year-old hinted that De Bruyne could fit to feature at the Etihad following his recovery from a knee injury.

He said: "Kevin trained quite well with no pain – we'll see."

But he is sweating over the fitness of John Stones after he was hauled off against Hoffenheim with a knee problem.

Guardiola added: "Yesterday he was in treatment. Today he is in training.

"We will see how they feel because when you have just 60 hours of recovery [it is difficult]. We will see."

When asked if he would sign anyone new in the upcoming transfer window, he replied: "No, we are not going to sign anyone."
