Dana White SLAMS 'casual' UFC fans for not appreciating Kamaru Usman enough after breaking Georges St-Pierre record

February 15, 2021

UFC president Dana White has slammed casual fans who do not respect Kamaru Usman enough.

Usman, 33, made the third successful defence of his welterweight title at UFC 258, knocking out ex-training partner Gilbert Burns in three rounds.

The win saw the Nigerian Nightmare extend his winning streak to 13 in the division, surpassing 39-year-old icon Georges St-Pierre.

During that run, Usman has picked up wins over Tyron Woodley, Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal.

And UFC chief White cannot believe any true fight fan could question the Nigerian-American's talents in the Octagon.

As reported by MMA News, he said: "For anybody to say that Usman's not (the real deal), you don't know anything about fighting.

"And that's OK. Maybe you just jump in and you like to watch it because it's the thing to do, and Conor's fighting, or this guy's fighting.

"But if you know anything about fighting and you don't think that Usman is, you really don't know anything about fighting.

"If he doesn't have the respect now, he should have got it after the Covington fight.

"I can't stop talking about the Covington fight. It's one of the greatest fights I've ever seen.

"Anybody who didn't respect him after that, that's your problem, not his."

Usman called out UFC legend GSP to come out of retirement for a bout after beating the Canadian's record.

He also called to rematch Masvidal, who he beat on points last July on Fight Island after just six days notice.
