Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier WILL have fans as its announced limited number allowed at UFC Fight Island

CONOR McGREGOR'S comeback fight against Dustin Poirier WILL have fans in attendance.

The pair are set to meet in the octagon at UFC Fight Island in Abu Dhabi in the early hours of January 24.

McGregor will take on his American opponent at the MMA corporation's bio-secure venue on Yas Island in the Emirati capital – complete with a golf course, sandy beach and even an F1 race track.

And the city's official media office confirmed a limited number of spectators can be inside the arena.

A tweet read: "@DCTAbuDhabi is to host the third instalment of UFC Fight Island on @yasisland from 16 to 24 January, welcoming a limited number of spectators to the new Etihad Arena.

"The triple header will see three mega-fights, utilising Abu Dhabi’s proven ‘safe zone’ concept to protect the health and safety of all delegates, spectators, crew and media."

Preceding McGregor vs Poirier at UFC 257, the UFC Fight Night clashes between Calvin Jatter and Max Holloway on January 16 as well Michael Chiesa against Neil Magny four days later will also have fans.

Irishman McGregor beat The Diamond in their first bout back in 2014 with a first-round TKO.

And the American, 31, will be hoping for revenge with UFC 257 broadcast live on BT Sport Box Office in the UK.

But his opponent promised fans 'a masterpiece' – even giving up his Proper 12 Whiskey in the build-up to his first fight in a year.

It is thought McGregor is in 'his best shape ever' ahead of the lightweight bout thanks to a carefully planned diet.

McGregor has put on a significant amount of muscle ahead of his return to the lightweight division, which he hasn't graced in over two years.

The former featherweight and lightweight king's considerably thicker frame has sparked understandable concerns about his ability to make the 156lb limit.

But The Notorious is currently on a strict diet to ensure he loses an ample amount of weight before he begins removing the excess water from his body during fight week.
