CONTROVERSIAL MMA star Colby Covington has hit back at the "woke mob" who criticised him over his LeBron James comments.

Covington labelled the NBA star a "spineless coward" in a row over the Black Lives Matter movement.

James, 35, protested against the shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin and the murder of George Floyd by sitting out of the playoffs.

After Covington's win over Tyron Woodley last weekend, he dedicated his win to first responders and said: "You keep us safe, not these woke athletes.

“I’m sick of these woke athletes and these spineless cowards like LeBron James.”

His comments caused anger and Covington showed no remorse when he took to Instagram.

He said: “Nice try, woke mob but you can’t cancel Colby Covington [Incorporated].

"I speak for the silent majority and I’ll never back down."

Covington, who is hugely vocal in his support of Donald Trump, added of the Black Lives Matter movement: "The Black Lives Matter is a complete sham – it’s a joke.

“They’re taking these people that are complete terrorists. They’re taking these people that are criminals.

“These aren’t people that are hardworking Americans, blue-collar Americans. These are bad people. They’re criminals."

His anger towards James had LeBron fans claiming the basketball giant would annihilate the MMA star.

The 6ft 9in, 250lb is one of the most hyper-athletic sportspeople of all time and was famously an NFL prospect before opting for a career in basketball.

The UFC ace stands at just 5ft 11in and tips the scales at 170lb – utterly dwarfed by James.

But a defiant Covington roared: "LOL at the snowflakes that believe @KingJames could even last 10 seconds with me!"
