Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger set to TRIPLE his wages as Bayern Munich and Juventus prepare £400k-a-week transfer bids

September 25, 2021

CHELSEA star Antonio Rudiger is set to have his wages TRIPLED with Bayern Munich and Juventus reportedly preparing to offer him £400,00-A-WEEK.

The German only has a year left on his Blues deal and can sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas sides in January.

Rudiger, 28, has been in phenomenal form since Thomas Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard.

And European giants Bayern and Juve are prepared to reward his performances by making him one of the highest paid defenders of all time, according to the Mirror.

The report states Rudiger earns around £130k-a-week at Stamford Bridge, not even half of Romelu Lukaku's £325k weekly salary.

Belgian Lukaku is the same age and Rudiger reportedly feels he should be pulling in a similar wage.

Chelsea are believed to have offered him an extension on similar money but the Germany international is keeping his options open.

He told Sky Deutschland: "For me, this will now be the most important decision of my professional career."

Juve have a track record of snapping up free agents and paying them big money – Aaron Ramsey a well-known recent case.

And Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann recently heaped praise on Rudiger and admitted he is a big fan.

Nagelsmann was speaking to the press ahead of Bayern's 3-1 win at Furth on Friday.

And he said: "In principle I am no fan of talking about players who are under contract with other clubs while we are outside the transfer window.

"But I'm talking about Rudiger as a football fan.  He has made fantastic progress.

"Thomas Tuchel has handled him extremely well since taking charge.  He was previously on the scrapheap at Chelsea.

"But now he is one of the most important members of their defence. He has incredibly good fighting spirit, and is a very good defender.

"I always think it's great when a player lives up to his job description – and that is always the case with Toni."

The 47-cap international has made 104 Premier League appearances since joining Chelsea in July 2017, winning three major honours.

He was recently described as 'arguably the best centre-back' in the Prem by Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand.
