Burnley boss Sean Dyche blasts Liverpool star Daniel Sturridge as a cheat after bust-up with Jurgen KloppDecember 6, 2018
The Burnley boss claimed Klopp was out of order for accusing the Clarets of being over-aggressive and for asking the referee to protect his players.
Dyche told the Liverpool manager to get his own house in order after he ignored a blatant dive by Sturridge that won the Reds a free kick.
He said: “I’m a bit confused because there were some excellent tackles made, and the one that seemed to really upset him – by Ben Mee on Joe Gomez – was a fantastic tackle.
“It is unfortunate that the Liverpool player was injured, but that didn’t occur as the result of a bad tackle.
“And he didn’t reference Daniel Sturridge’s cheating when he went down without any hint of contact and got them a free kick.
“I was a Liverpool fan growing up in the 70s, when they had a fantastic side, with a real physical edge to them.
“If that has gone and they are against strong but fair tackles like the ones that were made in our game I don’t know what to make of it.
“If that has been replaced by cheating I’m glad that I’m old-fashioned.
“I cannot believe Jurgen Klopp or Liverpool fans would prefer to see cheating in the game than good, honest challenges like we saw in this game.
“I really didn’t see anything in it, apart from one tackle by Phil Beardsley that wasn’t great to
“The sort of tackles we saw are well within the rules. managers have a right to complain about anything they want to, but they can’t re-invent the rules of the game.”
The two Premier League bosses were involved in a heated showdown at full-time after Liverpool picked up three points at Turf Moor.
