Gunners start with Selhurst visit
It's now just 18 days until Arsenal kick-off the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.
Mikel Arteta's men start with a Friday evening encounter at Crystal Palace, and will be hoping for better than last season's opener.
The Gunners began last August with another Friday night London derby, but were shown up by newly-promoted Brentford in a feeble 2-0 defeat.

Gunners beat off Blues for Jesus
Arsenal saw off a last-ditch bid from Chelsea to seal the signing of Gabriel Jesus, according to the player's agent.
Marcelo Pettinati has admitted that the Blues came in with an eleventh hour offer for the Brazilian forward.
However, the 25-year-old has already bought into Mikel Arteta long-term vision, and had his heart set on a move to the Emirates.
“Chelsea were one of the teams that tried to hijack the Arsenal move," revealed Pettinati.
“They tried very hard in the final days to get him. By that point, we’d already chosen our new project.”
Following the transfer, Thomas Tuchel's team turned their attention to another Manchester City forward, Raheem Sterling.

Saka contract talks continue
Arsenal officials remain locked in discussion with Bukayo Saka's representatives over a mega new deal.
Fabrizio Romano reveals that talks between the two parties have been 'going on since February.'
The England international's current deal runs out in 2024, and CaughtOffside's transfers expert believes the player will soon be valued at over €100m.
With other Premier League clubs interested in swooping for the 20-year-old, a breakthrough in negotiations is seen as essential.
Romano continues: "Arsenal consider Saka a key player and think his contract extension is like a new signing, it is a priority for this summer."

Morning, Arsenal fans
Juventus superstar Arthur Melo is back on the radar but Arsenal might face competition from Manchester United for Youri Tielmans.
Central midfield remains a transfer priority for Gunners' boss Mikel Arteta.
That's despite a dominant 2-0 friendly win against Everton.
Impressive new striker Gabriel Jesus made it three goals in two games and Bukayo Saka sealed victory in Baltimore Maryland.
It's thought Arteta is ready to come in again for Brazil ace Melo, a target last January.
But it's now claimed new United chief Erik ten Hag is a huge admirer of Arsenal's dream option – Leicester hero Tielemans.
At least the £30million deal for Manchester City left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko is all but over the line.
And Arteta boosted William Saliba by insisting the Frenchman who has been loaned out three times was now "in my plans".
The Spaniard added: "We are all excited to watch him. He’s a proper talent who showed what he can do at Marseille."
Saliba's fellow centre-back Pablo Mari has emerged as a target for Fenerbahce.
And Arsenal are said to value second-choice keeper Bernd Leno at £15m – after Fulham reportedly wanted the German for £10m last week.

Vieira trains with Tierney and Tomisayu
Arsenal new boy Fabio Vieira has been training away from the group, as the Gunners begin their US tour.
Mikel Arteta’s side have been training ahead of a match with Everton in Baltimore.
But, Portugal star Vieira has been training separately with Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu – who both missed games towards the end of last season through injury.

Guardiola closes on Marc
Pep Guardiola will step up his bid for Brighton’s Marc Cucurella to replace Oleksandr Zinchenko.
With Ukraine star Zinchenko heading to Arsenal for £30million, signing a new left-back is the only priority for the Manchester City boss.
Guardiola has dismissed reports he is after another forward despite allowing both Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling to leave earlier this month.
He also signed England midfielder Kalvin Phillips for £42m and back-up keeper Stefan Ortega to bolster his squad.
The Seagulls are believed to want up to £50m for Spaniard Cucurella, 23, but City are reluctant to go that high — so may end up looking elsewhere.
The full-back joined Brighton from Getafe last year following a £15.4m deal. The Spain international enjoyed a stunning debut campaign at the Amex Stadium as he registered a total of 39 appearances across all competitions.
That led to the defender being named the club’s double player of the season.

Barca fight to stop Jules reaching the Bridge
Chelsea are reportedly closing in on ex-Arsenal target Jules Kounde but face competition from Barcelona who have made the Sevilla defender their “number one target”.
The Catalan giants are looking to build on an encouraging week in the transfer market after they closed in on some major signings.
They are now turning their attention to Kounde, 23, and reportedly are set to make a £51m bid.
Marca report that he is now the “big goal” for the La Liga club after their failure to secure other targets earlier in the window.
While Barca did manage to sign Andreas Christensen earlier in the window they are believed to be keen on another centre-back.
Kounde is yet to join up with Sevilla’s first team who are touring in South Korea due to a pelvic operation he had last month.

Gunners won't get Bernd over Leno sale
Arsenal are holding out for £15m for out-of-favour goalie Bernd Leno, according to reports.
Last week, it appeared the German shotstopper was headed to Fulham in a deal worth £10m.
But, the Gunners rejected the deal – and are now reportedly looking for a fee in the region of £15m.
Talks between the North London side and the Cottagers are ungoing – as they seek to find a resolution in the deal.

Gift of the Gab is not finishing
Ex-Arsenal man Mikael Silvestre thinks that Jesus won’t take home the Premier league Golden Boot this season.
The former defender spoke to Lord Ping about whether the Brazilian will compete with the likes of Harry Kane, Mo Salah and Erling Haaland.
He said: “Gabriel Jesus is a good addition for Arsenal, but I still don’t see him as a top goal-scorer or a finisher.
“He’s got so much to his game but right now he’ll just have to try and replace Aubameyang or Lacazette.
“It’s going to take him time to become that number nine because at City, they had Aguero and he didn’t establish himself when he left as the main number nine.”

Red Devils linked to Tielemans
Manchester United are showing increasing interest in Arsenal target Youri Tielmans, reports tonight suggest.
The Express claim Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag has a long-running interest in the Leicester midfielder.
The Belgium hero’s contract runs out at the end of the season.
And the Gunners, as well as Newcastle, are alreeady said to be monitoring his situation.
It’s suggested the Foxes might be tempted to cash in on the 25-year-old if they receive a bid of £25million-plus.

Arteta faces fitness crisis
Arsenal could be missing five first-team players for their opening day clash against Crystal Palace.
Mikel Arteta revealed defenders Kieran Tierney, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White could all be absent.
Tomiyasu and White are doubts while Tierney, who missed the last 10 games of last season, suffered a recurrence of his knee injury in a friendly earlier this month.
Arteta could also be without two key creative outlets in Emile Smith Rowe and summer signing Fabio Vieira.
Smith Rowe has a muscle problem so is perhaps more likely to be available for selection than Vieira who has a bone issue.
The midfielder was spotted in a protective boot at the beginning of the month and is yet to start training with his new team-mates.

Dybala to snub Red Devils and Gunners
Paulo Dybala is ready to snub Manchester United in favour of Roma, according to reports.
Dybala, 28, left Italian giants Juventus last month after his contract expired and has been the subject of interest from a number of clubs since.
Among these are the Red Devils and Arsenal, who both want to push into the top four next season in order to get Champions League football.
However, Tuttomercatoweb claims the Argentine is now ready to accept Roma’s contract proposal following a phone call from Jose Mourinho.
Reports in Italy say an official offer will be submitted within 24 hours, with Roma expecting an answer in the next few days.

Melo ' back on Arsenal wish-list'
Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo has reportedly shot back up Arsenal's wish-list, reports say.
The 22-cap Brazilian joins Leicester's Youri Tielemans as an option for strengthening arguably the Gunners' main problem position.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is also closing on £30million-rated Manchester City left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.

You WILL be a star here
William Saliba has been told he will be a key player for Arsenal next season and must stay at the club after three years out on loan.
The French defender, 21, reluctantly returned to the Emirates after helping Marseille finish Ligue 1 runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain.
And reports in France claim the £27million centre-back, signed from Saint-Etienne in 2019, will ask to leave if he is not a starter for Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.
But Arteta is confident Saliba, who has two years left on his deal, has a huge future at Arsenal.
He said: “William is in my plans and we are all excited to watch him. He’s a proper talent who showed what he can do at Marseille.
“We have been trying to prepare him in the best possible way for what he faces in the Premier League.
“He’s improved in so many areas. All the time he has been abroad has built confidence in him.”

Jesus creates chaos
Gabriel Jesus might sound like an angel but is bringing Arsenal the devilment they have lacked for too long.
The Brazilian international striker has hit the ground running since completing his £45million move from Manchester City less than two weeks ago.
And it’s not just his goals which have delighted new boss Mikel Arteta.
Because the tough to impress Gunners manager is just as excited by the way his little hitman plays on the edge.
Jesus was a constant pain in the butt for Everton defender Yerry Mina during the first-half of Saturday’s 2-0 pre-season win in Baltimore.
Not only did he claim a goal and an assist for Bukayo Saka, but he was also engaged in a running battle with the giant Colombian Mina.
Arteta said: “Gabby creates chaos and uncertainty and I love those streetwise kind of players. They know how to take advantage of any situation and that’s what we need.
“He’s always on your shoulder, always there to nick the ball off you, always in front of goal and a constant threat. The moment an opponent gives the ball away he is straight away applying the pressure and getting his team in behind."

Turks could nab Pab
Arsenal defender Pablo Mari has emerged as a target for Turkish side Fenerbahce – with the defender NOT part of Mikel Arteta’s plans this season.
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has tweeted stating that the Spaniard is on the Istanbul club’s shopping last as they look for a new centre back.
The 28-year-old joined Arsenal for £5million in the summer of 2020 after an initial six-month loan spell from Flamengo.
However in his two-and-a-half years at the Emirates, the Spaniard has played only 22 times for the club.

Martinez joins Man Utd
Manchester United have CONFIRMED the signing of Arsenal target Lisandro Martinez.
The Ajax centre-back will link up with his former boss Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Martinez will become the Red Devils third signing of the summer after United finally agreed a £42million fee with the Dutch champions.

Jesus fantastic start continues against Everton
Gabriel Jesus’ electric start to his Arsenal career continued as awful Everton were put to the sword in Baltimore.
The £45million Brazilian was involved in a running battle with Yerry Mina in a pre-season encounter which was anything but friendly.
But it was Jesus who had the last laugh when he opened the scoring after 33 minutes then teed up Bukayo Saka for Arsenal’s second goal three minutes later.
Coming on the back of his two goals on his Gunners debut in Nuremberg last week, it is no wonder that Mikel Arteta is getting so excited about his new striker.
And it was probably why Arteta was taking no chances when he withdrew Jesus at half-time after he had been on the wrong end of a wild Ben Godfrey challenge just before the break.
The Arsenal boss had already seen enough of his latest acquisition to feel confident that his team are going to be a lot more clinical in front of goal next season.
- Alex Cole
Last night's goals
Frank Lampard will already be fearing the worst after watching his side being torn to shreds in the first game of their pre-season campaign.
They were under the cosh long before Jesus converted a clinical finish into the roof of the net after Jordan Pickford completely missed a corner from Cedric Soares.
And they fell further behind when Jesus threaded an inch perfect pass through for Saka to steal in at the back post to double Arsenal’s lead.

ARSENAL 2 EVERTON 0
Arsenal defeated Everton 2-0 with a dominant display at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore Maryland overnight.
Gabriel Jesus continued his goalscoring streak, which now stands at three goals in two matches, and Bukayo Saka sealed the win against a hapless Toffees side.
Mikel Arteta was also spotted berating Ainsley Maitland-Niles for giving the ball away as the Gunners’ pre-season preparations ramped up.

Fan reaction to Maitland-Niles error
Responding to the incident on Twitter, one fan wrote: "This guy had it going as a full-back, don’t know why he forced being a midfielder."
Another commented: "Need to shift him, give Lokonga the opportunities."
The rest of the second half went by without much further incident, with Arsenal winning 2-0.
Despite losing his rag during the game, Arteta oozed with pride after it.
The 40-year-old said: "The development has been really good.
"Honestly, the way they’ve been training has been phenomenal – the best since I’ve been here.
"The togetherness around the group, the quality that they’ve shown, the intensity in how they train. They are different standards."
