Antonio Valencia says goodbye to Man Utd with emotional Instagram post ahead of summer transferApril 20, 2019
ANTONIO VALENCIA has said his goodbyes to Manchester United.
The United captain has struggled with injuries in his tenth year at Old Trafford making just eight appearances this term.
More to the point, the Ecuadorian has made only one appearance under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Valencia, 33, is out of contract the end of the season and United have confirmed they will not be taking up their 12-month option on his current deal.
And the winger-turned full-back took to social media and uploaded a photo of the Sir Alex Ferguson stand at Old Trafford accompanied with a "Thank you" caption to his 3.2million followers across Twitter and Instagram.
Valencia moved to Old Trafford from Wigan for £16million in 2009 as a replacement for Real Madrid-bound Cristiano Ronaldo.
He made 338 appearances for the club, scoring 25 times.
Valencia proved a popular signing among the United faithful after recovering from an ankle break in 2010 to win the Matt Busby Player of the Year award in 2012.
The South American has gone on to win Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.
Valencia is fit and available for selection and could be given the chance to say a final farewell in the final game of the season at home to Cardiff next month.
