76ers GM Elton Brand uncertain if Markelle Fultz will return this season

Markelle Fultz's status has been the biggest — and strangest — mystery of the NBA season. Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand did little to shed any light on things.

Brand gave an update on Fultz's recovery on Saturday, but the team still has no timetable on the 20-year-old's potential return. Brand said it is "to be determined" if Fultz will play again this season. "I can't say right now," he added.

Fultz has not played since Nov. 19 and was diagnosed this month with thoracic outlet syndrome, a compression of nerves or blood vessels between the neck and upper chest. Physical therapy was recommended, which Fultz has been doing in Los Angeles.

Brand said Fultz will be with the team over the holidays, and will have "a better update in a few weeks."
