Saddle up! Zara Tindall takes part in a polo tournament as she and husband Mike continue to soak up the sun on Australia’s Gold Coast

  • Zara, 37, took part in the Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo event on Sunday 
  • She and Mike also mingled in VIP area of the event at Doug Jennings Park 
  • The couple flew out to Queensland this weekend for the equestrian festival
  • Mother-of-two missed out on the action last year while pregnant with Lena 

They have swapped the chilly British weather for a trip to Australia’s Gold Coast. 

But there was no rest for Zara Tindall as she took part in a highly competitive polo tournament on Sunday. 

Princess Anne’s daughter, who flew to Queensland with husband Mike over the weekend, looked delighted to be back in the saddle after missing out on part of last year’s event while pregnant with her second child.

Zara, 37, is the captain of Team Harrolds and has said she is delighted to be back ‘amongst the action’, taking on Argentinian player Nacho Figueras at the sold-out Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo event.  

Figueras is a close friend of Zara’s cousin Prince Harry, and has played opposite the flame-haired Prince on several occasions.

Zara and Mike Tindall attended the Magic Millions polo event on Australia’s Gold Coast on Sunday. The couple touched down in Queensland over the weekend and have been spotted enjoying the sunny weather on the Gold Coast beaches

Last summer the equestrian joked about playing third wheel as a newlywed Harry and Meghan shared a rare public kiss at the Sentebale Polo Cup – praising the couple’s ‘incredible love story’.

The strength of their friendship was revealed when Nacho and his wife were invited to Harry’s wedding to Meghan at Windsor Castle in May, attending both the ceremony at St George’s Chapel and the exclusive after party at Frogmore House.

Later on Sunday, Zara and Mike donned their glad rags to mingle in with guests in the VIP area of the annual polo event at Doug Jennings Park. 

The Queen’s granddaughter looked typically chic in a blush pink lace dress for the occasion and came armed with a sunhat in light of the 27°C temperatures.

She swept her blonde locks into a low bun and sported a pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses to the sporting event, completing her ensemble with a pair of nude wraparound wedges and a matching box clutch.

Zara was in her element on the pitch on Sunday. Zara and Mike scored big at a range of Magic Millions events last year – notably at the annual yearling sale when their horse, Tindall, was sold was $50,000 (£28,000) above its reserve

Speaking about her face-off with Figueras, the Olympic medallist told Australia’s Who: ‘While I enjoyed watching Nacho from the sidelines last year, I much prefer to be amongst the action and am looking forward to matching up against him. 

Zara and Mike scored big at a range of Magic Millions events last year – notably at the annual yearling sale when their horse, Tindall, was sold was $50,000 (£28,000) above its reserve.

His syndicate Redwall Bloodstock paid $80,000 for the bay filly, however, it sold for $170,000 (£95,000) at the Gold Coast sale, after the couple had put a reserve on it of $120,000 (£67,000).
