A woman managed to find a whopping £28,000 hidden in a sofa she bought off Craigslist.

Vicky Umodu discovered the money inside one of the cushions after finding the set of sofas during a hunt for furniture.

She had just moved into her new property when she uncovered the wads of cash.

But Vicky, from California, US, got into contact with the seller to return the money as a gesture of goodwill, reports ABC7.

She said: "I scrolled down and saw free items.

"So, I clicked on it, and the first thing I came up with was this family that wanted to give a sofa, and everything in their bedroom set.

"I said maybe it's a gimmick, so I called them."

Unaware of the furniture's concealed cash, the sellers were giving the sofas away for free following the death of a loved one.

Vicky continued: "I just moved in, and I don't have anything in my house. I was so excited, so we picked it up and brought it in."

But not long after she returned home, she noticed there was something off inside of the cushions.

She detailed: "I thought it was a heat pad."

Then when she unzipped the cushion, Vicky found several large bank deposit envelopes packed with cash.

She said: "I was just telling my son, come, come, come! I was screaming, this is money! I need to call the guy.

"God has been kind to me and my children, they're all alive and well.

"I have three beautiful grandchildren, so what can I ever ask from God?"

After returning the money, the family gifted Vicky roughly £2,000 to buy a new refrigerator.

The family discovered more cash throughout the house and they're unsure why the relative hid so much.
