‘I’ve run out of tissues!’: This Morning viewers are left in tears as Alison Hammond delivers presents to kids spending Christmas in hospital – including a baby boy waiting for a liver transplant

While many children are counting down the days until Christmas, some won’t get to be at home with their loved ones on December 25.
So This Morning decided to surprise the patients of Leed’s Children’s Hospital with some gifts on Friday’s episode.
Alison Hammond met little Otis, who is waiting to get a partial liver transplant from his mother, and was presented with a giant teddy bear.
The presenter then met with Clara, who has had both kidneys removed and is currently undergoing chemotherapy and dialysis.
The scenes left viewers in tears, with one person tweeting: ‘I’ve run out of tissues.’

Otis had been waiting for a transplant but it was taking a long time as he has a rare blood type.
Luckily, his mother has recently been tested and should be able to give him part of her own liver.

In the show he lay in his hospital bed clad in an adorable elf romper suit, and looked bemused when Alison presented him with the teddy.
Next she met Ellie and her daughter Clara, who had one kidney removed when it developed a tumour and the other then failed.

Alison gave her a giant unicorn toy that was almost bigger than the little girl.
While they undergo treatment, both children will have to stay in hospital over Christmas.
Ellie said: ‘It affects every single person who’s in your life, its not just the people who are in hospital it’s everybody.’

The nurses on the ward revealed how they try and make it a special Christmas for the children who can’t go home.
Nurse Rebecca said: ‘It’s a really fun day working Christmas day. We make it as fun as we can for the children. Santa comes in on the night to deliver the presents for the children so make sure they’re ready to open them in the morning.’
