Through analysing over 150 Summer related names against the latest data from the Office of National Statistics, baby travel brand Micralite has come up with the top most popular summer-related baby names from five years.

The top 10 summer-inspired female baby names

1. Isla

The name Isla is of Spanish and Scottish origin, and means ‘island’, which evokes some very warm, tropical vibes.

Across the five-year period analysed, there were 15,625 babies born with the name Isla, which puts it at the top of the summer-inspired list for girls.

2. Phoebe

With Greek origin, Phoebe means ‘radiant, shining one’, which brings dreamy summer sunshine to mind.

3. Ruby

If your baby’s born in July, as Ruby could be a great shout, as rubies are the birthstone of July.

4. Ellie

The name Ellie is of English origin and means ‘bright shining one’ – perfect for the sister of a Phoebe, perhaps?

5. Aurora

Aurora is the name of the goddess of sunshine in Roman mythology, so it’s giving power.

It’s of Latin origin and means ‘dawn’.

6. Summer

This one is fairly self-explanatory – Summer is a name that directly evokes the whole fun, breezy season.

7. Savannah

With Spanish origins, the name Savannah just feels warm.

It means ‘flat tropical grassland’, which might not be the most romantic, but, for fans of Americana, it’s also the name of a city in Georgia.

8. Niamh

Niamh is of Irish origin and means ‘bright’ or ‘radiant’ – we’re starting to sense a bit of a theme here.

9. Skye

Another more literal summery name, Skye is a beautiful name that reminds one of picnics under a sunny, cloudless blue horizon.

1. Leo

Leo has Latin origins, meaning ‘lion’ and is the summery star sign for people born between 23rd July – 22nd August.

There were 18,016 babies born with the name Leo in the five years analysed, which puts it at the very top of this list.

2. Lucas

The name Lucas is another Latin name – whis one is a form of the Greek name Loukas, and means ‘bringer of light’.

Does that remind anyone else of the sun?

3. Dylan

The name Dylan has Welsh origins and means ‘son of the sea’, which is pretty beautiful.

Perfect for a beach-loving baby.

4. Luca

If you like the name of a certain half-Italian Love Islander, Luca, which is the Italian version of Lucas and also means ‘bringer of light’ could be for you.

5. Luke

If you’re more into the English form of the above, then Luke, which means ‘light-giving’ is worth a look in.

6. Leon

Closely related to the Leo star sign, the name Leon means ‘lion’, which is the symbol for the astrological sign, in Greek.

7. Kai

Another ocean-friendly name is Kai, which is of Hawaiian origin and means ‘sea’.

8.  Sonny
