Teen cuts 10 inches off hair in TikTok challenge – and screams as she’s snipping

A 19-year-old decided to go for the big chop by cutting 10 inches off her long locks for the TikTok hair challenge.

Charli who uses the handle @theindietiktoker, got the scissors out after years without visiting the hairdressers.

Her decision follows a battle she had with glandular fever years ago.

When she was struck with the illness as a child, her head became “really sensitive and couldn’t hold the weight of (her) hair”.

At the time she “really hated her” bob cut, so vowed to grow it out after.

Charli explained: “Since then I’ve grown it out and have been really protective over it.”

Despite loving her long locks, the TikToker decided to take part in a viral challenge.

The trend involves cutting your own hair with scissors and posting your transformation onto the app.

As Charli hacked away at her hair, she repeatedly screamed.

And when taking a look at the finished results for the first time, she was noticeably shocked.

The video has been viewed two million times this month – and responses to it have been mixed.

However, some Tiktokers didn't see the point of Charli’s video with one user commenting: “Why did you do that? You had nice long hair.”

Another commented “You are literally the one doing it? Why are you freaking out?”

But, other members of the video app came to her defence with one user commenting “Why is everyone saying she overreacted and that its just hair?

“This was obviously a big thing for her so what’s the point in making her feel bad?”

Another member added: “You suit it so much and did a good job”.

Charli is donating her 10 inches of hair to the charity Little Princess Trust.

According to the charity’s website, it “provides free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions”.

Whatever your thoughts, Charli is now rocking her new do and has helped a charity.

And it’s definitely a good way avoiding the prices at the hairdressers!
