Shops including John Lewis, H&M and Boots slash up to 70% off prices in early Boxing Day sales

December 22, 2021

CHRISTMAS is still a few days away but some retailers have already started their Boxing Day sales and are slashing prices.

Bargain-hunters and last-minute gift buyers can already nab a discount as stores look to get ahead of the game this year.

The likes of John Lewis, Asos and House of Fraser have already unleashed huge discounts, with the price of some items reduced by 70% or more.

Fashion, perfume, electronics and sportswear are just some of the areas you can scope out a deal.

It's not the first time this year that retailers have decided to get an early start on their sales.

Just last month, many major sites launched their Black Friday sales days or even weeks before the actual shopping event.

The Boxing Day sales have traditionally been the biggest shopping day in the UK calendar, but this year a host of retailers have revealed they will not be opening their doors on the day.

Aldi, Morrisons and M&S are among the businesses that have confirmed they will stay shut the day after Christmas.

A number of companies have said they want to give their staff an extra day off to say thank you after a difficult year.

The Next sale has historically seen shoppers queuing from the early hours of the morning to get their hands on a bargain.

But this year, the high street stalwart will not launch its in-store sale until December 27.

VIP members can, however, start their sale shopping now.

And there are plenty of bargains to be had elsewhere too.

Where to find early Boxing Day bargains

Asos has kicked off a mega sale, with discounts of 70% or more on some items.

We spotted a Paul Costelloe leather bag reduced from £175 to £52 – a saving of 70%.

Meanwhile, a lace midi dress was down 74% from £75 to just £19, and a leather jacket was slashed from £650 to £150 – a 76% reduction.

At John Lewis, the official Boxing Day sale hasn't started but there’s 50% or more off some clothing brands including Ted Baker men's trousers reduced from £119 to £47.

We spotted an industrial-style ceiling lampshade for less than half price – reduced from £45 to £22.

You can also save £150 on a Shark cordless vacuum, reduced to £199.

Boots is slashing prices on gift sets and fragrances.

You can save more than £16 on Hugo Boss Iced For Him – the 100ml bottle is reduced from £50 to £33.33.

Plus, kidswear is half price including a sloth pyjama set reduced to £7.50 and a floral romper suit for just £3.

At H&M there are bargain to be had on clothes and outerwear.

We spotted a snuggly quilted coat down to £36 from £60 and a sequin dress reduced from £35 to £20 – in case you’re still looking for something special to wear on Christmas day.

Sales are starting early

B&Q has plenty of deals for those already thinking ahead to sunnier times in the garden.

We spotted a wooden storage shed down from £145 to £100 and a rattan planter down from £82 to £42.

Curry’s doesn’t have a Boxing Day sale live yet, but it has lots of so-called “flash deals”.

You can pick up a Tassimo coffee machine for £29.99 – a massive saving of £70 on the usual price.

And we spotted a Bosch steam iron for £34 – a saving of more than £45.

House of Fraser has also kicked its sales off early, with savings of 50% or more on beauty and other ranges.

We saw a Lancome lipstick half price at £13.50 and 30% off a Chloe Nomade perfume gift set, now £59.50.

As with any sale, remember it's only a bargain if you wanted that item anyway.

Shoppers should also be on the lookout for dud deals – research by Which? earlier this year found that nine in 10 offers were actually fake bargains.

It said that 187 of 201 products it looked at on Black Friday cost the same or more than they did in the months before.

As always, you should compare prices before you shop to make sure you're getting a good deal.
