Sandra Oh, Andy Samberg to co-host 2019 Golden Globes

December 6, 2018

Less than 24 hours before nominations are announced, NBC has revealed the co-hosts of the 76th annual Golden Globe Awards.

Sandra Oh (BBC America’s “Killing Eve”) and Andy Samberg (NBC’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) will emcee the 2019 TV and film awards, which will be broadcast live from Los Angeles’ Beverly Hilton hotel on Jan. 6 (8 EST/5 PST).

It’s the first time hosting a major awards show for Oh, an Emmy Award nominee this year for “Eve” and past Golden Globe winner for playing Dr. Cristina Yang on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Samberg, also a Golden Globe winner for his comedic role in cop comedy “Brooklyn,” previously hosted the Emmys in 2015, earning mixed reviews.

Nominations for the 2019 Golden Globes will be announced Thursday morning, with “A Star is Born,” “The Favourite” and “Mary Poppins Returns” predicted to lead the film races.

Unlike other awards shows, the Globes has posted mostly steady ratings over the last several years, averaging 19 million last January. But it had its closest finish yet to the Oscars, the perennial awards leader, which drew a record-low 26.5 million in February and Tuesday named Kevin Hart to host its 2019 show.
