Oven cleaning hack shows you how to lift door off for all-round access

January 2, 2021

An oven cleaning hack said to make scrubbing your stove less of a pain in the back has gone down a storm on TikTok after a cleaning guru made a video demonstration.

In the clip, uploaded by TikTok user @cleanthatup on December 30, professional cleaner Brandon shows in detail how to unhook and lift the oven door off so you can easily access all parts of the cooker.

Showing how it's done, he says: "If the thought of cleaning your oven simply makes your back hurt, simply unlock the hinges, and lift the doormat a 75-degree angle.

"This will completely remove the door, giving you great access for cleaning."

Unsurprisingly, people were gobsmacked with the nifty trick and many confessed they'd had no idea it was possible.

One man commented: "You got to be s***ing me!

"Went straight to the kitchen and yes, my oven does that too. Thank you."

Other people said their oven doors had no unlocking mechanism and so they couldn't use the cleaning hack.

"Unfortunately not all ovens have removable doors," Brandon added.

Other users begged him to make a part two video – showing how to get the oven door back on – because many people had difficulties putting it together again.

One person wrote: "Don't do it… it took me forever getting the door back on.

"Thought I was going to have to buy a new one."

Another commented: "LOL removing the door is the easy part.

"Getting it back on is a different story."

Some people had horror stories of removing the oven door, only to drop it and smash the glass resulting in an eye-watering bill for a replacement.

It's probably a good idea to check the user manual for your oven and check if it recommends removing the door, or if doing so would void your warranty.
