My ex has given up booze for me but I can't turn my feelings back on | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: WATCHING my ex partner booze so much that he kept colliding with walls at a party last year was the light bulb moment for me.

He has always been a messy drunk and refused to cut down on his drinking.

Listen to the NEW Dear Deidre podcast

Resident agony aunt Sally Land is taking The Sun’s legendary advice column from the page to podcast.

Each week, Sally will be joined by an expert and some of your favourite celebs to give helpful, entertaining advice to listener problems.

A brand new episode will be available every THURSDAY.

Listen HERE, or wherever you get your podcasts.

But the next morning I told him we were finished.

One year on, and I’m still stuck in the same house as him.

He’s stopped drinking in an effort to prove to me how much I mean but I can’t turn my feelings back on.

I’m 31 and he’s 34. I’ve looked at other properties, but I don’t earn enough to afford anywhere.

I’d like to start dating again, but can’t while we live under the same roof. So I’m stuck living with someone I lost all respect for.

DEIDRE SAYS:  Living in the same property won’t help either of you. He is clinging on to hope that you could rekindle your relationship and you are frustrated and unable to date new partners.
