I am a 36-year-old woman and my boyfriend is 38. He is moving in with me and my two children – boys aged eight and ten – next month.
But my brother is adamant. He says that he only wants people there he knows well.
He has met my partner a couple of times but due to their working hours there is never a good time to get together.
It’s not just him – the girlfriends of my two other brothers aren’t invited either.

His future wife has invited all her family and their partners but they don’t make any effort with our side.
Am I wrong to say I won’t be attending if my partner is excluded?

DEIDRE SAYS: Try not to take this decision personally.
Weddings are expensive and each guest can cost a lot. Or there may be a capacity issue, which would make the guest list tight.
It is their day and their decision. Best to let it go. It is not a battle you are going to win and isn’t worth falling out with your brother over.
