My best friend took his own life and I don't know how to go on without himJanuary 12, 2019
We grew up together and we were both different from everyone else in school. We both loved computers and everyone called us geeks.
What they didn’t know was that we both suffered with depression.
I am 28 and so was he. We hung out together all the time and when either of us found ourselves in a dark place, one would pull the other up.
He lost his job recently and was finding it hard to get another one. He had an ex-girlfriend and a child to support.
We promised each other we would never do anything silly but now he’s gone and I’m devastated. I just wish he’d called me.
DEIDRE SAYS: You are not responsible for his death and please take comfort from all the years you were a support and true friend to him.
If you have other under-standing friends, see them.
If you’re lonely, use your interest in computers as a way to network, through night classes or online groups such as through meetup.com.
Find support with your depression through CALM – Campaign Against Living Miserably (thecalmzone.net, 0800 585858).
