Meghan’s Christmas photo has striking resemblance to her first wedding inviteDecember 17, 2018
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry delighted fans by sharing an unseen photo from their wedding day to celebrate Christmas.
The black and white snap, which is the only official picture from inside their evening reception, will feature on the couple’s festive card which they will send to family, friends and well-wishers.
But a royal expert and eagle-eyed fans have pointed out the striking resemblance it has to the Save the Date Meghan Markle and her first husband Trevor Engelson sent to their guests.
The new snap shows the Duke and Duchess of Sussex standing with their backs to the camera watching the fireworks over Frogmore Lake in Windsor. Meghan has her arm around Harry, and his arm is around her over the top of hers.
The Save the Date photo shows Meghan and Trevor sitting on a beach looking out to sea with their arms around each other in the same style.
Writing in the Mail on Sunday, royal screenwriter Margaret Holder highlighted the similarities.
She wrote: "I find it fascinating that Meghan has picked a photo so reminiscent of the save the date card for her first wedding. Surely it’s something she would want to forget?
"She seems to like this rear view.
"The Sussexes’ card is an interesting picture which shows a happy moment. But it’s an insight into a celebration which doesn’t tell us much about the couple. It actually misses out more than it shows."
Meghan and Trevor’s save the date offered guests basic dates about their special date, including the date and location.
The couple married in Jamaica in 2011 in a laid back ceremony in front of about 100 guests.
A source told the Sun" "The ceremony was over very quickly, in about 15 minutes.
"Then everyone hit the dance floor. It seemed they all just wanted to party."
