Maya Jama is the current golden girl. The TV presenter and radio host has had the sort of success, at just 25, that most can only dream of.

However, does she consider herself to be at the top? Not likely.

In a recent interview with the Evening Standard the Bristol-born star said: "I’m not even a quarter there. I want to do so much more."

And it appears that she is doing just that. The former girlfriend of rapper Stormzy has just landed a prime time show on BBC one.

But with this on the near horizon, how much money is the star really worth?

Well, no doubt Maya will be paid a pretty penny for her new job where she is set to appear alongside former footballer Peter Crouch in Save Our Summer, a brand new entertainment show that aims to give us a taste of the summer's cancelled events following the coronavirus pandemic.

The stunning presenter shared the news on Instagram, writing: “If I'm honest I've not felt like myself recently with everything that's going on in the world…

“It's been hard to think of anything else but trust me I am having those conversations behind the scenes about what we can do in TV and production to make a permanent change towards ending racism.

“This is one of the biggest moments of my career so far and I know those of you who have followed me for a longtime will know what this means to me…

She added: "I’ve kept it kind of quiet what my next step would be after radio but you will be able to see me every Saturday night at 9:15pm on @bbcone starting tonight.

“A whole Saturday night prime time TV show host is wild, tune in if you can & let me know what you think.”

This news follows the fact that she recently stood down from her role as BBC Radio 1 host, where she presented their Greatest Hits show for two years.

However, the half Somali, half Swedish star didn’t just appear out of nowhere. She worked her way up, having first started as a DJ on Rinse FM.

By 2014, just aged 20, she had her own show on MTV called the The Wrap Up, about hip-hop, R&B and grime music. This led to her hosting other shows including MTV news.

She has also hosted events including, the BAFTA red carpet event and the MOBOs (she was the youngest person ever to do so).

She has also raked in cash co-hosting The Circle and Stand Up To Cancer among other things.

But as we all know, there are other ways for celebrities to make money these days that don’t involve using their vocational skills.

That’s right, Maya has leant her face to brands such as Adidas, Aussie!, GAP and Kurt Geiger which would have filled her pockets.

The young powerhouse has even designed a few collections for Pretty Little Thing.

Although her net worth has not yet been confirmed, Daily Feed estimate that the star is worth a whopping £1.5 million. Not bad for 25…
