A malnourished kitten with a tiny body is now a happy, healthy cat fully recovered from her adult life.
Lulu weighed less than 300g and looked gaunt with protruding bones when she arrived at Best Friends Felines, an animal charity dedicated to rescuing cats and kittens from Brisbane and coastal areas.
She was brought to the shelter by a vet nurse, who explained that Lulu had been surrendered by her owners at the clinic she worked at to be put to sleep, alongside her siblings who were all already dead, Bored Panda reported.
The kittens were so hungry that they’d tried to get some nutrition from eating each other’s fur.

Kiki, from the rescue centre said that Lulu had fleas, hookworm and was totally emaciated and mostly bald.
Lulu’s odds of surviving were ‘not great’ due to her being so starved that it had badly affected her organs.
They said: ‘Arriving at my home and seeing the tiny and fragile shell the vet nurse lifted out of the carrier just broke my heart, as she was so failed by her owners to allow her to get to this state. She was tiny but mighty with such a will to fight to live.’

They added: ‘She was never ashamed to yell for your attention and demand cuddles. She adored everyone she met, from humans to other cats and dogs.’
Once her worm and flea issues were under control, she started to improve, gaining weight and fur growing back.
Lulu was introduced to another kitten who had a similar start to life and Kiki said that the two greeted each other ‘like long-lost friends’ and it wasn’t long before they started wrestling each other.
