Jimmy Fallon Got Steph Curry to Drop 3 Ridiculous Phrases in His All-Star Game Interviews
February 20, 2019NBA star Steph Curry was game for more than just basketball this All-Star weekend.
Jimmy Fallon revealed Monday on The Tonight Show that he recruited Curry for a hilarious game of “Drop It In” that found the star slipping a trio of absurd phrases into his interviews ahead of the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday.
“We gave him three weird phrases and asked him to sneak them into the interviews he did for All-Star Weekend,” Fallon explained. “So the phrases he had to sneak were, ‘Energizer Bunny,’ ‘Flipping pancakes’ and ‘Wham bam, can of ham.’ No one knew that we were going to do this.”
The Golden State Warriors point guard, 30, passed with flying colors, managing to drop each phrase twice — even if he did nearly dissolve in laughter each time.
“From the time I picked up a basketball, I knew shooting was second nature, like flipping pancakes for me,” he said with a smirk.
Later, he joked, “That last one looked good from the time it left the hand, and I was like, ‘Wham bam can of ham, that’s going in! ”
Curry’s All-Star team, Team Giannis, lost 178-164 to Team LeBron.
He was also edged out in this year’s 3-Point Contest by Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Joe Harris.
Curry, who pulled out a win in 2015, came up just short, swishing 24 hoops to Harris’s 26 in the finals.
His losses didn’t seem to bother him too much; by Monday night, he was back in San Francisco dining at wife Ayesha Curry’s restaurant International Smoke with former President Barack Obama.
“No greater privilege than to cook for this man on Presidents’ Day. Thank you for the highest honor @barackobama,” chef Michael Mina wrote on Instagram.
