I struggle to have sex with my partner after I was assaulted by a guy last year

January 1, 2021

DEAR DEIDRE: I’M 18 and my boyfriend is 20.

We’ve been together seven months, but things have hit a wall.

He’s upset because I am cautious about sex.

I can’t shake the feeling that it’s dirty.

The problem is last year I was asleep on my friend’s sofa after a night out.

Her boyfriend came into the lounge and started fondling me. He was all over me.

DEIDRE SAYS: Of course you are nervous about sex – you had your trust violated and your friend’s disgraceful boyfriend assaulted you.

Please talk to Rape Crisis on rapecrisis.org.uk or 0808 802 9999. They support survivors of sexual assault.

Explain to your boyfriend the reason behind your hesitance. Hopefully he’ll be patient and supportive.
