I don't want kids but my friends only ever talk about their babies – I feel so isolatedSeptember 16, 2020
DEAR DEIDRE: ALL my friends go on about is, “My baby. . . ” I can’t take much more.
I’m 28 and I’ve got a good job.
My husband is 35 and a stay-at-home dad.
He’s got two boys from a previous relationship who live with us.
We’ve decided we don’t want kids of our own.
My four friends went to one another’s weddings and all have kids.
I feel isolated listening to them harping on.
I think I need to find new friends on my wavelength.

DEIDRE SAYS: You may do but widen your social scene rather than dropping your old friends.
You will have to accept that you have different priorities right now, but things will settle down as their children grow.
You’re a stepmum so your advice will be invaluable as their kids develop.
Meanwhile find friends with mutual interests via meetup.com.
Most events are online for now but there are lots of new possibilities.
