Grammys 2019: How to watch, who's performing, and moreFebruary 8, 2019
The 2019 Grammy awards are just a few days away, and here you’ll find everything you need to know before music’s biggest night kicks off.
The 61st annual Grammy Awards will take place Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. CBS’s red carpet coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m PT. If you have cable, you can also stream it via CBS’s All Access app, or use it separately for a small monthly fee. YouTube TV ($40/month but offers a free trial) will also be streaming the night’s festivities.
Alicia Keys, a 15-time Grammy winner herself, will be hosting the awards, which start at 8 p.m. ET/5p.m. PT.
Despite the relative stability of the night’s host (see: Oscars), the performers have been anything but. Taylor Swift, whose Reputation is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album, will be absent, along with Ariana Grande, who is up for two awards, after Grande reportedly had disagreements with the show’s producers over which songs she could and couldn’t perform. Recently-arrested rapper 21 Savage will also miss his scheduled appearance alongside Post Malone.
The faces you will see perform on Sunday, however, include Janelle Monáe, Kacey Musgraves, Brandi Carlile, H.E.R., Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Dan + Shay, Post Malone, Lady Gaga and Mark Ronson, Dua Lipa, St. Vincent, Chloe x Halle, Travis Scott, and more. Diana Ross will also be getting a tribute in honor of her 75th birthday, as well as late soul queen Aretha Franklin, who died in August.
As far as nominees go, Kendrick Lamar leads the field with eight, seven of which are tied to the Album-of-the-Year-nominated Black Panther soundtrack. Drake, who will also be snubbing the ceremonies, has netted seven nods, and he has summer staple Scorpion to thank for five of them. Behind him, frequent collaborator and producer Boi-1da and Americana folk star Brandi Carlile are each nominated for six awards.
