Florida woman shares ways she 'tests' men on a first date

‘I want to see if you will give me the shirt off your back’: Florida woman reveals ‘tests’ she puts men through on a first date to ensure they’ll ‘be able to provide for her and protect her’

  • Gabby says she uses some tactics to ‘test’ men early on in a relationship
  • They must pay for the first date, and she calls splitting a bill ‘bulls***’
  • Men must make sure she gets home safely, and she even ruled out a man who didn’t wait for her Uber to come – even after she told him not to
  • If a man is wearing a jacket, she will always say she is cold to see if he will offer it
  • Many commenters have applauded Gabby and shared agreement with her tests, but others have criticized her for playing games

A single woman from South Florida has divided TikTokers with the ‘tests’ she gives men to see if they’re worth dating.

Gabby (@respectfullygabby) has some clear criteria for prospective romantic interests, and she will automatically rule out a man as a match if he doesn’t meet the bar she sets.

So to make sure she isn’t wasting her time, she says she uses some tactics to ‘test’ men to ensure they will be able to provide for her and protect her in a relationship.

Her video found its audience, with thousands of women sharing their approval of her testing techniques — but it’s also sparked some backlash from people who have criticized her for playing games.

First date tests #dating

‘Here are some tests I play on men in order to see if they’ll be able to provide and protect me. Because if they’re not, I don’t f***ing need them. You shouldn’t either,’ Gabby begins her video, which has over 20,000 likes.

‘First thing’s first: him paying for the date. Let’s stop this conversation and the back and forth, the 50/50, the bullsh***. First date, he needs to be paying 100 per cent. And if he’s not then goodbye,’ she says.

Her second test is about ensuring a man cares that she gets home safe — even if she tells him not to worry about it.

She recently pulled this test on a man that she’d spent a night out with at a bar in Miami.

‘As we are leaving, we both had Ubers going separate ways. His Uber came first, and he was like, “Oh, no, I’ll wait for you.” Me, in my head, I’m like, “Oh no, you don’t have to wait for me.” Being kind,’ she says.

‘And this man gets into his Uber and takes off. It is four a.m. in Miami, Florida, where no good is to come. Everything is shut down and I’m standing by myself in the middle of the f***ing street,’ she complains.

‘Immediately no. If you don’t care about my safety and making sure I get into my Uber safely, you’re done.

‘And then if you don’t go ahead and double check I made it safely? Bye,’ she says. ‘This man failed my protection test, so he never heard from me again.

‘Men, you need to be walking her to her car, to her Uber, to wherever to make sure she gets home safely. And then text her making sure she gets home safely.’

Finally, she tests men to see if they’ll give her their clothes if she’s cold.

‘When we’re out, if you have, like, a jacket on, or some kind of overshirt, I will always, without a doubt, say that I’m cold. ‘Cause I wanna see if you will give me the shirt off your back, and if you don’t, you’re dead to me,’ she says.

‘Immediately no. If you don’t care about my safety and making sure I get into my Uber safely, you’re done,’ she said

‘And then if you do, I won’t take it. ‘Cause h**s don’t get cold.’

Gabby’s video has earned plenty of approving comments, including one who insisted: ‘He needs to pay for every date! I’ve never paid in my entire life.

‘If a guy doesn’t make sure I get home safely after our date, I won’t go out with him again, no matter how good the date was,’ said another.

‘Normally I don’t agree with tests because it’s all about being sincere.. but this is just common sense stuff to look out for the lady your with,’ wrote a third.

But others — especially men — don’t like that Gabby plays games.

‘You told him to go ahead. Don’t play games,’ wrote one man.

But others have criticized her for playing games, with one saying: ‘You’re a grown a** woman playing childish games. You set YOURSELF up for failure’

‘Men don’t need to provide and protect for every single woman that they meet. You’re confusing a 1st date with a husband or serious boyfriend,’ wrote another.

‘Test this test that. What are we in high school? Stop with the games and communicate!! Way too grown for all this,’ wrote a third man.

‘He dodged a bullet!’ wrote a fourth. ‘You’re a grown a** woman playing childish games. You set YOURSELF up for failure.’

One woman chimed in: ‘Say what you mean and mean what you say … don’t say it’s okay when it’s not!! He shouldn’t have left but you should have said, “Thank you for staying.”
