County Down home on the market for £24,950 – but it's 'just a shell'

A property in Northern Ireland is on sale for less than £25,000 – but there are a couple of pretty hefty catches.

Being able to buy a house for that amount certainly sounds too good to be true, especially in this current financial climate we’re living in.

Indeed, with the average price for a house in Northern Ireland being £175,234, the £24,950 asking price of this one-bed property sounds positively dreamy.

But don’t get too excited just yet – it’s a major fixer-upper.

The Property Pal listing describes the place as ‘basically just a shell’.

The semi-detached property has a lounge, a kitchen area, a bedroom, and a garden – but no bathroom inside to speak of.

Instead, you’d have to use an outdoor WC.

On top of that, there are no fixtures or fittings to speak of in the kitchen.

The good news is the garden is big, so potential buyers could make plans for an extension.

But there’s one more thing.

Due to the fact that there’s no working bathroom or kitchen in the property, and its ‘general condition’ overall, the listing says mortgage finance won’t be an option.

That means they’re only looking for buyers who can afford to pay everything upfront.
