Black Pound Day: Best gifts for your loved-ones this Christmas from small businessesDecember 2, 2022
December 2022 is finally upon us and it’s another Black Pound Day!
How great to continue to support the initiative started by So Solid Crew member Swiss in June 2020. Being intentional about supporting black owned enterprise on the first Saturday of the month as a means to empower the community.
This month, seeing as though it is Christmas, we are shining a light on some of our favourite enterprises that have amazing items for your homes, yourselves or as thoughtful gifts this festive season.
It's our mission to lead our followers to a wide range of UK black owned businesses and to shine a light on black British culture – check us out.
Box and Blume
This enterprise was founded in 2021 offering gorgeous, quality and long lasting letterbox flowers either as a one off or as part of a subscription.
We are big fans of their Christmas wreaths! Simply stunning!
We have already bought our calendars for 2023 – and we love them! Why change a tradition that we love?
The calendar comes with inspirational and positive affirmations and incredible signature designs. What’s not to love?

This award-winning brand is a family business which brings multiple tastes from the Caribbean produced in Northampton with love and care.

We are massive fans of this multi award-winning alcohol-free natural ginger drink made in Manchester, drawing on founder Deanne’s family favourite recipe.
Just add water or use as a versatile and delicious mixer with alcohol – its win-win!
For those of you who have little ones… have you tried Nala’s Baby? For baby products that are created with your little one’s health, skin and wellbeing in mind… this is the one for you.

A firm favourite of ours since our inception – premium quality stationery and gifts created by the lovely Tihara Smith.
This brand was created following a positive response to Tihara’s final year project for her BA in fashion. Such a talent and we love seeing how the brand continues to grow and inspire.
Black British Charities
This year has been challenging for a number of reasons for many people. One unifying factor that may affect people is the cost of living crisis.
Charities are also experiencing tough times. The rising costs of living means many charities are struggling to stretch their funding and resources to the usual levels.
With that in mind, we welcome readers to check out our resource page here and donate what you can to the very worthy charities listed.
