Black face masks – where to buy plain, reusable and washable face coverings

Black face masks – where to buy plain, reusable and washable face coverings

September 23, 2020

FACE masks are now mandatory in shops in England and on public transport, with £200 fines for people who refuse to wear one.

In a speech to Parliament on Tuesday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced, after a spike in coronavirus cases, that the fines will now double if you're caught without a mask in indoor public spaces.

They're now mandatory for staff in pubs, restaurants and shops along with anyone getting a cab.

People will have to cover up when they go into their local or out for dinner – or when they need to nip to the loo now too.

Pubs and restaurants will also have a 10pm curfew from Thursday and they will only be able to offer table service.

The government decided to enforce mask wearing back in July in a bid to stop a second spike of coronavirus.

Some people, such as people with breathing difficulties, disabled people and babies, are exempt from wearing face masks.

Research has suggested that wearing a cloth mask helps to protect you and the people around you.

If you cough or sneeze, a mask will prevent germs from reaching others, and if someone coughs or sneezes around you, a mask will offer some protection if used properly.

However, these are not medical-grade masks, so you still need to take other precautions such as staying socially distanced and washing your hands frequently.

The news that you will have to wear masks in shops prompted a huge increase in searches for face masks, particularly black reusable ones, online.

After the news broke on Monday, July 13, searches for "black face mask" leapt by 1,500% between 10pm and 11pm.

Here are some of the best options you can buy at the moment:
