Qasimi RTW Fall 2021February 20, 2021
Under creative director Hoor Al-Qasimi, her late brother’s label Qasimi is increasingly branching outside fashion. For fall, the brand showcased the new collection via a performance, choreographed by Bakani Pick-up Company.
The Look: The collection blends Middle Eastern elements with British tailoring classics. There are hound’s tooth checks and tweeds pieces, but also items made with UAE traditional textiles in plum, Yemen military-inspired yellow prints and tulip patterns inspired by Turkish tiles.
Quote of note: “It’s important to bring what I know without imposing too much. I’m trying to gently suss out the fashion world. For me collaborations are always really important, so for this season, we thought about the group of people who are coming together like the Bloomsbury group to create a change.”

Standout pieces: Statement coats made with chenille brocade, hound’s tooth check preppy tops, and pleated skirts, plus giant scarves. Oversized shirts with the message “We all live under the same sky,” from Konrad Adenauer both in English and Arabic, and a purple hoodie with “Dream!” written in Arabic calligraphy.
The takeaway: There is a bit of everything for everyone. Understated tailoring for the more reserved, and bright prints and big coats for fashion lovers, with a universal appeal beyond the U.K. and UAE markets.
